Green Farming, ‘Model Homes’ That Redefine Agriculture and Livelihoods for Ugandan farmers.
🌱 Subsistence & Sustainability: ‘Model Homes’ Redefine Agriculture and Livelihoods for Farmers in Uganda For more than two decades, farmers in Musomoko Village, Buikwe District, relied on traditional farming practices that produced just enough to survive. Like many rural communities across Uganda, subsistence farming was the backbone of daily life—but low yields, environmental pressures, and limited knowledge often kept families trapped in a cycle of minimal productivity. Then, something changed. In this documentary, we follow the story of farmers like Sylvia Namutebi and Ronald Nsubuga, whose lives were transformed through the Population, Health and Environment (PHE) Model Home Concept, an innovative community-led approach that connects agriculture, environmental stewardship, health, and household well-being. Through peer-to-peer learning, practical demonstrations, and mindset shifts, ordinary farmers are discovering how small changes can create lasting impacts—not only on their farms, but also in their homes, finances, and communities. 📍 Filmed in Buikwe District, Uganda This film explores: ✅ Sustainable farming practices ✅ Climate resilience and environmental conservation ✅ Community-led development ✅ Peer-to-peer farmer learning ✅ The Model Home concept ✅ Rural livelihoods and food security ✅ The connection between health, population, and the environment "One day, a group of individuals invited us to a farming workshop, and it completely changed the way I look at farming. It showed me how much more I could get out of my land by making a few adjustments." — Sylvia Namutebi Can knowledge transform a community? Can a change in mindset unlock a better future? Watch and discover how one village is redefining what it means to thrive. 🎥 Film & Photography: Richard Mugambe ✍️ Written by: Richard Mugambe & Marion Apio #Documentary #Uganda #Agriculture #SustainableFarming #ClimateResilience #FoodSecurity #RuralDevelopment #Agroforestry #EnvironmentalConservation #FarmerStories #CommunityDevelopment #AfricaDocumentary #Buikwe #ModelHome #PHE #RegenerateAfrica #Agritourism #SubsistenceFarming #ClimateAction #UgandanFarmers
