Fluid Mechanics Lesson 11E: Introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics

Fluid Mechanics Lesson Series - Lesson 11E: Introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics. In this 15-minute video, Professor Cimbala introduces computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and describes the general step-by-step procedure for solving fluid flow problems using CFD. He discusses various types of grids (also called meshes), along with residuals and how they relate to convergence of the solution. Finally, he shows some examples of CFD solutions (steady vs. unsteady, two-dimensional vs. three-dimensional, flows with heat transfer, incompressible vs. compressible, inviscid vs. viscous). This video incorporates material from Sections 15-1 to 15-5 of the Fluid Mechanics textbook by Cengel and Cimbala, edition 4.
