1978 Honda ATC 90 Full Restoration - Part 2
Im finally back and i have some BIG changes to share with you! First of all you have probably noticed the channel is no longer called Really Random Channel i have changed the name to RRC Restoration to better fit the theme of the channel now. As well as that we have a lovely new logo as well and i think you'll agree it looks fantastic :) and if that wasn't enough i have expanded the workshop and have a dedicated room for doing restorations and that gives me back my spray booth which should increase productivity which means more content for you guys :) Anyway onto the ATC restoration. This time i am tackling the frame and getting it back into tip top condition. The first thing to do was to pull off any remaining parts like the chain guide, seat latch and bearing races, after those were pulled i took the frame outside for a thorough washing and degreasing to see what condition the frame is really in. Once cleaned and dried and back on the bench i set about stripping the old paint off. This was done with paint stripper as the frame is too big to go in my blasting cabinet and as you all know i like to keep as much work in house as possible, once the paint was stripped the frame was given another cleaning. Once cleaned and dried again the frame was fully inspected to see what areas would have to be addressed and welded. once i completed my inspection it was time to remove all traces of rust this was done with a nice long soak in DEOX C to remove all traces of rust from inside and outside of the frame. After 12 hours in the rust eating solution the frame came out spotless clean and ready for a quick coat of etch primer to stop any flash rusting. once the primer had cured i fired up the grinder and welder and set about sorting the rust issues on the frame, the biggest issue i had to deal with was the rotten support bracket for the undertray but that was solved by cutting off the rusty material, flattening it and using it as a template to make a new piece that was welded in. Then it was a case of standard body working procedures, touch in any bare metal with etc, high build, flat back, re-prime any areas that rubbed through then a nice shiny top coat of gloss black was added. And that takes us to the end of this episode. I hope you enjoyed the project and like the new workshop and name :) Stay Tuned and i will see you all again soon. RRC ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A new addition to my videos from now on will be a water mark and my channel name popping up in random places throughout the video as im getting rather tired of people re-uploading my content as their own i hope you guys understand.
