🔥 Bengaluru’s New Food Street? This Masala Dose at Basavanagudi Blew My Mind 🤯

Basavanagudi’s new evening food street in the making? 🌙🍽️ Right opposite Ashrama Circle, a small ecosystem of food carts and vendors is quietly coming alive every evening from 6 PM until midnight, serving everything from traditional Karnataka snacks to hot dosas and rice dishes. One such gem we visited was Brindhavana Cafe. Started with something you rarely see in food carts — Shavige Bath 🍋🥜. Smooth, tangy and loaded with flavour, with crunchy peanuts and kadala bele adding lovely texture. The accompanying ghatti chutney elevated the dish even further. Next came Thatte Idly with two chutneys and Uddin Vade ☁️ The idly was unbelievably soft and fluffy — almost cloud-like and disappeared in the mouth. The spicy Kempu (Red) chutney added the perfect punch. A good thing here — unlike many places, they haven’t relied on baking soda for softness. The Vade had a nice dense, doughy bite inside; served piping hot, it would have been even better. Then sampled a few more dishes — 🍋 Puliyogare – decent 🥭 Mango Chitranna – next level with its balance of tanginess and savouriness 🍚 Tharkari / Vegetable Pulao – aromatic, flavourful and one of the best dishes of the evening And finally came the star of the show — Masala Dose ⭐ Initially, I was torn between Onion Dose and Masala Dose, but seeing plate after plate of Masala Dose flying off the griddle made the choice easier. What arrived was a thin crepe-like dose — light on oil yet uniformly crisp throughout. The palya was generous, thick and deeply savoury in every bite. Honestly, this alone is worth visiting Brindhavana Cafe for. The place maintains good hygiene and prices are largely on par with a Darshini. But the quality, care and taste make it stand out.
