Episode 1 Meet the Adventure Dogs & Our Storyteller GXV HILT

RV life with dogs and a brand‑new Storyteller Overland GXV HILT – in this Labs and Landscapes Episode 1 we introduce the whole crew and take our first shakedown trip into the Mojave Desert. Maverick the up‑for‑anything American Black Lab, Magic the opinionated English Chocolate Lab, Howler the HILT expedition truck, Rover the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, and Anthony behind the camera all come together to kick off this adventure travel series. We start in Phoenix, Arizona, where we pick up Howler from the Storyteller Overland dealer and begin learning what this GXV HILT is really capable of. At Overland Expo SoCal 2026 we connect face to face with the Storyteller team, dig into the HILT’s off‑grid systems, and network with other overlanders to get real‑world tips before heading out on our own. If you’ve been curious about the HILT or expedition‑style overlanding rigs, this episode gives you a first‑person look at what it’s like to bring one home and get it ready for big miles. For our first shakedown we pair Howler with Rover and head north to boondock at the otherworldly Trona Pinnacles along Highway 395 in California’s Mojave Desert. We test camp systems, dog‑travel setups, and filming workflows while the labs explore the alien‑looking tufa towers and wide‑open desert around camp. This is where we start dialing in how to live, work, and create content from an expedition truck while keeping the dogs happy and safe on the road. To close out Episode 1, we roll a licensed Chris Stapleton “Traveller” sequence over a sneak peek of future episodes – from big western landscapes to remote boondocking spots you’ll see later in the series.
