R.A.M.O.N.E.S. (Covered by The Hawkbirds)

The Hawkbirds covering the Motörhead track, “R.A.M.O.N.E.S.” The song, written by Lemmy Kilmister (and possibly with the help of Phil Taylor, Würzel, and Phil Campbell), is on Motörhead's 1991 album “1916”. Lemmy Kilmister, the singer and bassist of Motörhead, was a huge fan, and friend, of Ramones. The song’s lyrics are a straightforward homage to the band, celebrating their impact and contribution to punk rock music. Ramones were known for their high-energy performances and their stripped-down, fast-paced sound, which had a significant influence on punk rock and heavy metal. Motörhead, under Lemmy's direction, was also known for a similar kind of raw, energetic rock that bridged the gap between punk and metal. Subsequently, Ramones also performed this track on and off until their final show in August 1996, with Lemmy on vocals. Ramones and Motörhead had a mutual admiration for each other ...and Joey Ramone stated, “it was the ultimate honor - like John Lennon writing a song for you.” (Scroll down for the lyrics…) This cover was recorded on 8/23/24 in our basement studio, on 6 separate tracks (vocals, lead guitar, bass guitar, bass drum, toms/snare, and cymbals) using a Zoom H6 audio interface, and mixed with GarageBand.
