Bluebell Railway - Driver's Eye View - Sheffield Park to East Grinstead with 4MT 2-6-4T No.80151

Join me at the Bluebell Railway for a Driver's Eye View of the Line with No.80151 a member of the BR Standard 4MT 2-6-4T class of locomotives. If you are able to visit the railway you can be sure of a warm welcome from the staff and volunteers who keep this wonderful railway operating just as it did back in the days when steam was still king of the rails. The Bluebell Railway is an 11 mile (17.7km) heritage line located almost entirely in West Sussex, England with Sheffield Park being the exception as it is located just over the border in East Sussex. The railway is managed by the Bluebell Railway Preservation Society using steam traction to operate trains between Sheffield Park and East Grinstead, serving intermediate stations at Horsted Keynes and Kingscote. It was the first preserved standard gauge steam-operated railway in the world to operate a public service. The society ran its first train on 7 August 1960, less than three years after the line from East Grinstead to Lewes had been closed by British Railways. Today the line is managed and run by volunteers supported by a team of full time employees. The railway began amassing its collection of steam locomotives before steam had stopped running on British mainline railways in 1968, today it has over 30 steam locomotives, the second largest collection in the UK after the National Railway Museum. The railway is also home 150 carriages and wagons, most of them pre-1939.
