ANGÚ DE MILHO – A COMIDA ANCESTRAL DA COMUNIDADE QUILOMBOLA DE BARRA DO BRUMADO
Discover the flavor and tradition of Angú de Milho, an ancestral dish presented by the Quilombola Community of Barra do Brumado, located in Rio de Contas, Bahia. In this documentary produced by Carlos Landulfo de Souza Pau Ferro (Kal Comunicação), you will learn about the history, preparation method and cultural importance of this food that provided sustenance and energy for the rural man in the fields. Rio de Contas, one of the oldest historical cities in Chapada Diamantina, carries in its stone streets and colonial mansions the living memory of the people who helped build the region. Among them, the Quilombola communities of Barra, Bananal and Riacho das Pedras stand out, guardians of knowledge, flavors and cultural expressions passed down from generation to generation. The Quilombola Community of Barra do Brumado has been organizing itself over the years with solid community bases. One of the great highlights is the handicrafts produced by the Quilombola Women, which express creativity, resistance and identity. Now, the community is united in another collective dream: the completion of the Community Kitchen, which will serve local delicacies to tourists and visitors, strengthening the local economy and promoting quilombola culture. In this video, the community shares, step by step, how to prepare cornmeal angú, while the sound of quilombola cultural manifestations accompanies the process. At the end, the elders have the honor of trying the recipe and giving their rating, celebrating the recovery of this food heritage. Watch, be moved and value the richness of the quilombola culture of Rio de Contas!
