MY SON And there you were, The smallest of all things, The most precious of all things, A raindrop in the desert. Your weightlessness in my arms, Blowing a wind of disbelief, Crowned me emperor of the tiniest universe known to man. A son was born, but most of all, A father had risen from nothing. The beauty of your soul, astounded me, Day after day, you made me whole, And if I stumbled, your smile prevailed, And if failed, you never doubted. I watched your steps, so hesitant, Day after day, you conquered it all, And if you stumbled, I loved you more, And if you failed, it was impossible. And soon already, you carried me, Not with you arms, but with your heart. There was more beauty in your play, Than all the sun shines in the world. There was more meaning in my life, Than mighty fates and purposes. In awe, in love, with you my son, Is how I will remain forever, My pride will swell like tides, Filled with the beauty of your heart. One day, maybe today, I will be old, I will be child and you will be man, And yet again, The weightlessness of your soul, Will blow a wind of disbelief, Into this heart you filled with light.
