A television crew witnessed, for the first time, the actual interception of an aircraft in Brazilian airspace. The operation was conducted by the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) and used a Swedish fighter jet to intercept an aircraft in flight, including warning signals and protocols that can result in the target being shot down. Recently, there have been cases of clandestine flights linked to organized crime. For example, an unidentified Venezuelan aircraft landed in Roraima after being intercepted; it was carrying a marijuana derivative. The command center, located in Brasília, is responsible for authorizing interceptions, following rigorous procedures. From January to May of this year, 230 interceptions were carried out in Brazil. During the exercise observed by the Domingo Espetacular team, departing from Goiânia International Airport, the FAB fighter jet visually approached and made radio contact, requesting identification and flight plan.
