Stockton & Darlington 200 Anniversary Journey - Locomotion No. 1 steams on the main line S&DR 200

Stockton & Darlington Anniversary Journey Friday 26 September to Sunday 28 September 2025 To celebrate the 200th anniversary of the "first passenger railway journey", the newly overhauled 1975 built replica of Locomotion No. 1 was joined by three newly built Chauldon Wagons and a new replica of the passenger carriage 'Experiment' and retraced the historic journey in 1825 from Shildon to Stockton on the main line. Friday 26th September saw Locomotion at Locomotion at Shildon from were it ran down the main line to Darlington North Road and into ‪@HopetownDarlington‬. We first see Locomotion at a foot crossing just outside of Shildon by Middridge Quarry. Back at Locomotion we see the original Locomotion on display. Saturday 27th September saw festivities focused around ‪@HopetownDarlington‬ and the Skerne Bridge with Locomotion posing and crossing the bridge for gathered crowds on the anniversary day itself. Sunday 28th September saw the train steam along the main line to Stockton and then onto Ferryhill for road transport back to Darlington. We first (well hear) see the train just after 6am were it left DInsdale past Teeside Airport approaching Urlay Nook. We then head to one of the "official viewing places" of Six Fields Nature Reserve, Hartburn with a quite a crowd gathered on the Sunday morning. Finally we see a few shots near Mordon, not long after Stillington near the end of its journey to Ferryhill. ‪@SDR200Anniversary‬ #railway200 www.preservedrailway.co.uk (C) Lee Andrew Davies 2025
