D-Day to VE Day: Behind the Scenes
From 6 June 2024 - 8 May 2025, the REME Museum team has worked tirelessly to follow the movements and actions of REME units and personnel to commemorate the 80th anniversaries of the end of WW2 in Europe. Beginning on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day in June 1944, this campaign followed REME all the way across North-West Europe to Germany on VE Day in 1945. Now, we take you through the process of identifying source material, researching soldier stories and creating a visual campaign that tracked the movements on a nearly day-by-day basis. At the heart of this entire campaign was remembrance - remembering every soldier who died during the North-West Europe 1944-45 campaign by name. The REME Museum's War Graves Project aims to collect images of REME headstones around the world, of every soldier who died during active service. We are now also collecting images of the soldiers themselves. If you would like to help with this project, please find more information at https://www.rememuseum.org.uk/war-gra...
