【XADV 750】北海道へフェリーで新婚旅行④【日本最北端と白い道】

This is the fourth day of our honeymoon in Hokkaido. My wife and I have been married for 5 years, and we have been so busy that we have not been able to go on our honeymoon, but this time we decided to take the plunge and go on a motorcycle trip to Hokkaido. This time, we headed north along the Oororon Line, a road with a spectacular view known only to those in the know, to Cape Soya, the northernmost point in Japan. We enjoyed ramen noodles made from scallops and the much talked about white road, and stayed overnight in Rumoi. The touring distance was about 454 km. As the Oloron Line heads north, the temperature drops and the number of buildings decreases. On the way, we stopped at Enbetsu Fujimi Roadside Station for a short rest before setting off for Cape Soya. We arrived at Cape Soya, exhausted from the low temperature and high humidity, with the road surface dry but our helmets wet. The ramen we had at Cape Soya, made with scallop broth, was exquisite! The mozuku seaweed was also very tasty and chewy, unlike the ones in Kanto. The white path is located on the Soya Hills Footpath Course, which is approximately 3 km on the goal side of the 11 km long course. The entire path is pure white because it is covered with crushed scallop shells, a specialty of Wakkanai. The contrast between the white road and the green was wonderful. (Although it was cloudy) There was nothing around, and the windmills and other structures were very spectacular as they spread out 360 degrees. After that, we planned to go to Furano, but we stayed in Rumoi due to a ferry crossing. Hokkaido is too big to go as planned....
