Disney's New Transportation Rules Are Live But Loopholes Exist | More Restrictions On The Way?
As of June 28, 2026, Disney World's new resort transportation restrictions at Disney Springs are officially live. And honestly? There's a lot to unpack here because while the rule itself makes sense on the surface, the way it's been rolled out has some real problems that could leave guests completely stranded. Here's the quick version of what the new policy actually says. Transportation departing Disney Springs, whether that's resort buses or the Sassagoula River Cruise, is now only available to guests who have a confirmed resort hotel stay, a dining reservation, or an experience reservation. No valid reservation? You can't board. Cast Members are checking guests at the entrance to the bus depot before anyone even gets near the buses. The enforcement itself is pretty clean at Disney Springs. The massive problem is everything before that point. As of this morning, there is zero signage at the resorts warning guests about the new outbound restrictions at Disney Springs. The Walt Disney World website hasn't been updated to reflect this change either, including the FAQs. In fact, the Disney World website is still actively telling guests they can park at a theme park and use the transportation network to connect to Disney Springs. If you follow that advice today, you will end up stranded at Disney Springs with no way to retrace your steps back to your car. We actually tested this ourselves. We parked at Hollywood Studios, followed the website instructions, hopped on the Skyliner to Art of Animation, and looked for any warning at the Disney Springs bus stop at that resort. There was nothing. A guest who followed those exact steps and boarded the bus to Disney Springs would arrive, see the new signage for the first time, and have no qualifying reservation to get back. That's a real problem. Now, loopholes. Because verification only happens at specific checkpoints inside Disney Springs, there are a few gaps in the system right now. The walking path to Saratoga Springs Resort is completely open with no check. And once you're at Saratoga Springs, you have access to resort buses that go to all four theme parks from the Congress Park bus stop, which sits completely outside the Disney Springs enforcement zone. There's also a quirk with the Typhoon Lagoon bus, which loads outside the enforcement bubble and now has direct summer service to the Port Orleans resorts. That whole connection goes unchecked. Whether Disney closes these gaps or leaves them alone is the real question. Right now it feels like the restrictions are specifically targeted at Disney Springs departures and what happens beyond that isn't on Disney's radar. Yet. The bigger takeaway here is that Disney gave guests plenty of advance notice with signage at Disney Springs weeks ahead of today, but that same energy didn't make it to the resorts where guests make that connecting trip, or to the website where people actually plan their day. That's a gap that needs to get fixed fast before more guests get caught off guard.
