Jiye (Yoshino) Village (now Ji'an Township, Hualien) was the first government-run Japanese immigrant village during the Japanese era, established in 1911. The predecessor of Ji'an Qingxiu Temple was the Jiye Shingon Buddhist Temple established in 1917, and Jiye Shrine was established in 1912. Shimizu Hanpei, a Japanese immigrant in Jiye Village, later wrote "Government-run Immigration: A Retrospective of Jiye (Yoshino) Village", recording the historical events of Jiye immigrants.
