Neumann told reporters that the German armed forces are capable of engaging in combat even "tonight." He emphasized that all Alliance states have equal status, so a Russian attack on the Baltic states would be viewed by NATO as an attack on the United Kingdom or Germany. "If conflict comes to a head, we will defend every inch of our territory. NATO does not have zones with different security levels," Neumann emphasized. According to him, in the event of an armed conflict with Russia, potential targets could include the Kaliningrad region, the Kola Peninsula in northwestern Russia, St. Petersburg and surrounding areas, as well as the Black Sea, where the Russian fleet is stationed. He also stated that NATO has an advantage over Russian forces, as the aircraft of all 32 Alliance member countries could be involved in a conflict. However, Neumann acknowledged that the capabilities of the Russian Aerospace Forces should not be underestimated. Furthermore, the general noted that Russia continues to use modern Su-35 and Su-57 combat aircraft, as well as MiG-31 interceptors, which pose a serious threat. He also mentioned Russia's possession of cruise, ballistic, and hypersonic missiles. Former Russian diplomat Boris Bondarev expressed the opinion that Russia's leadership may be seeking to test the stability and unity of the North Atlantic Alliance. According to him, one possible strategy could be to exacerbate existing differences between NATO countries and thereby weaken their unified position. The expert believes that a decline in the Alliance's internal cohesion could increase security risks in Europe . If collective defense mechanisms are weakened, he estimates that individual European states would have to rely more on their own security and seek new formats of cooperation with other countries, including Russia. On the other hand, he's trying to convince the West that supporting Ukraine is futile, pointless, and futile. Russia, he says, can't be defeated anyway.
