Ukrainian special forces capture Russian soldiers in a raid, torch invaders’ position

A special operations group from Ukraine’s 73rd Naval Special Operations Center has carried out a raid on a Russian position in a forested area of Ukraine’s northern Sumy region. The team infiltrated the mission area using several off-road vehicles before advancing on foot toward enemy positions. Video released on social media shows the operation to capture the Russian servicemen. During the operation, the Ukrainian soldiers discovered an abandoned Russian position, where they found military equipment and personal belongings. Further reconnaissance later revealed the location of Russian troops nearby. According to the report, the Russian soldiers initially rejected an offer to surrender and attempted to resist. However, after coming under heavy fire and sustaining injuries, they agreed to lay down their arms. The captured troops told Ukrainian forces that they had been abandoned by their commanders, a claim frequently made by Russian prisoners of war. After receiving medical assistance, the five Russian servicemen were taken into custody and added to Ukraine’s prisoner exchange pool. The observation post was subsequently destroyed.
