Meltrope Gramophone Pickup Circa 1930 with an Alteration by H. Virtz or W. S. Wild ?

This Fabulous Meltrope Pickup, Designed by Percy Wilson of the "Gramophone" magazine belonged to T. Walpole of 63 Old Town, Clapham, London SW4 , the very same Street that Harry Virtz had his Premises on, where he rebuilt Gramophone Soundboxes with his Trademark cross form Needle pinch screws. This Meltrope Pickup has a very similar looking Needle pinch screw added to a custom built Needle port, made from Airship grade Aluminium (Duralium), very finely made to accept Triangular Fibre needles as well as Thorns & Steels. It looks like the work of Harry Virtz, although another workshop in Clapham, SW4 managed by William. S. Wild also altered Gramophone reproducers & Specialized in the Meltrope Soundboxes . It's just a guess, but I wonder if either of these 2 produced the replacement needle port on this Pickup that was Originally Retailed with a set of Collets to allow the use of a variety of needle types of the period. There is also a Mahogany raised base made for this pickup of equally good design & finish.
