秘境に舞う～徳島・西祖谷の神代踊～ / Jindai Odori of Nishi-Iya

徳島県三好市西祖谷山村善徳 天満神社 「秘境に舞う～徳島・西祖谷の神代踊～」 （製作著作：四国放送　2024年作品） （ダイドーグループ日本の祭り 2024年度優秀賞受賞作品） 日本三大秘境に数えられる徳島県三好市の祖谷地方。 平家落人伝説が残る山深い地で、古くから受け継がれてきたのが「西祖谷の神代踊」です。ユネスコ無形文化遺産に登録された「風流踊」のひとつで、起源は菅原道真が讃岐守だった時、雨乞いを祈願して踊ったのが始まりと伝えられています。 毎年旧暦の6月25日に山頂に鎮座する天満神社で、花笠を被った女性や、お面をつけた男性らが輪になり、太鼓の音に合わせて踊って奉納されます。 踊りは地元住民で作る保存会が担っていますが、去年、地元の中学校が休校になるなど、過疎は深刻な状況です。 集落が寂しくなる中、小学生たちが伝統を継承しようと練習に汗を流します。高齢化が進む保存会の助けになればと、別の町から移住してきた警察官や県内で活動する舞踊家も加わり、静かな秘境に踊りの輪をつくります。 （注：TV番組OA当時の紹介文を使用しています） The Iya region of Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture, is counted among Japan's Three Great Hidden Regions. In this mountainous area, where legends of the Heike clan's defeated warriors persist, the "Jindai Odori of Nishi-Iya" has been passed down through generations. It is one of the "Furyu Odori" dances registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, with its origins said to date back to when Sugawara no Michizane, as governor of Sanuki, danced to pray for rain. Every year on the 25th day of the 6th month of the lunar calendar, women wearing floral hats and men with masks form a circle at the Tenma Shrine, nestled on the mountaintop. They dance to the rhythm of drums as an offering. The dance is performed by a local preservation society, but depopulation is a serious issue, with the local junior high school closing last year. As the community faces decline, elementary school students are diligently practicing to carry on the tradition.
