Triple J Hottest 100 1997: No 50 - 1 (Rage)

No 50 - 1 from the 1997 Triple J Hottest 100 Countdown, originally broadcast on ABC TV's Rage in early 1998. Digitized from VHS with audio upgraded. The Rage "hottest 100 banners" made for this countdown were left in their original VHS audio (too hard to fix), albeit with some treble and volume added but are noticeably different to the rest of the video. A few songs had to be edited, once again due to Copyright issues. Some great songs here, it was yet another cracking year for music with both the Hottest 100/JJJ/Friday night Rage and the Top 50 complimenting each other well. In my humble opinion, songs that missed out and should've been included in this list are/were (that got lots of JJJ airplay): Around The World - Daft Punk, All I Want & Gone Away - The Offspring (inexplicably the latter made the 98 list!), Discotheque - U2, Everlong - Foo Fighters (although admittedly this has become more popular after its original release), Richard III & Sun Hits The Sky - Supergrass, Abuse Me & Cemetery - Silverchair, Spin Spin Sugar - Sneaker Pimps and D'You Know What I Mean - Oasis. A note regarding No.1 - there was no video for No Aphrodisiac up until the week that Rage aired this countdown. It almost didnt make it!! :-) ‪@ClassicARIACountdowns‬
