ARIA Top 100 of the 1990s - No 50-1
Nos 50-1 of the "ARIA" Top 100 of the 1990's. While not an official chart from ARIA, this list has been prepared by "Chri8topher" from australian-charts.com and by all accounts is considered an accurate compilation. Given ARIA used sales data to compile the yearly Top 50 charts, this list uses these official charts together with each singles overall gold/platinum certification and charting run to determine placements. Special consideration would've been required to assess songs that charted across the Xmas break as their sales history were fragmented into each calendar year. High charting or songs that had strong sales in late 1999 or early 1990 would have their positions affected (those most likely affected being Blue - Eiffel 65, Madison Avenue - Dont Call Me Baby, B52's - Love Shack and to a lesser extent Black Box - Ride On Time). This chart has again been prepared as a mock Rage countdown as if aired on ABC TV's Rage. All videos have been sourced from either YouTube or from my own recordings, audio fixed where applicable. For songs that were/are listed as double A sided singles - notwithstanding that one of the songs became the "primary" hit, both songs have been included where the "secondary" hit likely had an impact on the original charting run and overall decade position. Note : 1-2 mins of each song only shown due to Copyright restrictions, one song had to be heavily edited in particular. One thing that is noticeable is that there are more entries from the latter end of the decade, which was due to (obviously) higher sales of singles, but also the more widespread availability of CD singles as the decade wore on, ownership of CD players in society (and the portability benefits of both players and the physical media) amongst likely increased purchasing power with CD players becoming cheaper. The songs that just missed out from each year were: 1990 - B52's - Love Shack & Milli Vanilli - Girl I'm Gonna Miss You 1991 - Daryl Braithewaite - The Horses 1992 - Mr Big - To Be With You 1993 - Lenny Kravitz - Are You Gonna Go My Way 1994 - Ace of Base - The Sign 1995 - Take That - Back For Good 1996 - Toni Braxton - You're Making Me High 1997 - Meredith Brooks - Bitch 1998 - KC & Jo-Jo - All My Life 1999 - Vengaboys - We Like To Party. @ClassicARIACountdowns
