Welcome to our channel - Luzer On The Trip! We're assembling the RV in our garage. In today's video, we'll show you how we installed our flooring and our ladder to access the solar panels. In this fourth episode, we'll show you how we installed the flooring and the ladder to access the solar panels. After all the asphalt was applied and the windows were in place, we headed to the neighboring town to pick up the marine plywood sheets. This was Camila's first experience on the road with our van. We checked the material and found it to be perfect for a new use. We also chose some battens to reinforce the structure. This first purchase included eight 15mm sheets. We used a little more than two to make the floor. On the way back, we stopped at the gas station for a coffee 🤍 Now it's time to get to work: Using the old flooring from the van, we marked the cutting areas on the new plywood sheets. Then, following the markings, we cut everything with a circular saw and jigsaw. We put everything in place, checked, and removed everything again to treat the underside. We applied three good coats of marine varnish. While everything was drying, I prepared myself with all the recommended PPE, as it was time to install our second thermal/acoustic lining. We used rock wool—one side is aluminized and the other is like a wool that crumbles, releasing a powder that cannot be inhaled and causes severe itching on contact with the skin. So, we couldn't be reckless; we wore long clothing, gloves, goggles, and a mask to speed things up. We used pieces along its length. We purchased a 9.6 m² roll measuring 8 m x 1.2 m with a thickness of 25 mm. We chose this measurement for the floor to avoid losing height inside the van, as the Edivan is 1.80 m tall and our plan is for it to be in the central aisle, at least 1.85 m high. The cuts were easily made with a utility knife. With the blanket installed, and the sheets already with the varnish dried, we installed everything with self-tapping screws. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Ladder: We chose a four-step BEPO ladder. It came completely disassembled, and we spent a few minutes assembling it. Then, using the ladder itself as a reference, we marked the location of the 8 holes. Once the holes were drilled, we placed the ladder in place, ensuring a good seal, using PU40. Using 8 stainless steel hex screws on the inside for better support of the bodywork, we made two plates and tightened the screws with washers and locknuts. This way, we could more easily access the solar panels, as they require periodic cleaning (for proper operation). And that was another step in the construction of our RV.
