MONOCHROMATIC BLACK on Robbs MetalWorks 2022

The New York metal scene has a LONG, vibrant & rich metal history. It has forever been part of my musical life since sporting my Yankees baseball caps in the early days of RMW,....in support of band's like Life of Agony, Type O, Sick of it All, Pro-Pain & many more. To be part of that extended diverse cloth is a blessing & I feel no underground band is better continuing that legacy out of NY than Long Island's, Monochromatic Black! I first came to know of the band late last year when they dropped their debut full length, 'Vicissitude'. I found their ornate blend of technicality, melodic interlude & intense brutality to both extend my understanding of the impact of time changes & how a varied vocal attack can change the backdrop of any song almost instantenously; AND that's what Mono does SO well! For any novice fan 'Vicissitude's' intensity will definitely require a keen ear, but the end result is clear. Mono is onto something quite special here & as the band continues to work diligently building their fan base across the country I only see them acquiring the regard they so rightfully deserve. On January 10th, 2022 the band was scheduled to play San Antonio (thanks to JC Productions), but unforutnately the event had to be cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic. Nonetheless, the night was not lost as the band made its way over to the MetalWorks for what became a memorable evening of new discoveries, transparency & good music. SO, in the interview below you will hear us discuss the following: the band's formation, adapting to the pandemic, the writing & recording for 'Vicissitude', touring plans for 2022, their heritage from the NY scene & much more! This was a special night & one that I hope ALL my Familia will enjoy too, as you learn about this killer band. I'd like to send out much gratitue to Julian Cruz for making this ALL happen in the RMW studio & to EACH member of Mono for their graciousness, goodwill & integrity. Happy MLK day everyone! ~ El Mero Metal
