ANIALATOR on Robbs MetalWorks 2026

When you ponder the LONG cloth of 80's Texas metal its quite astounding at what a rich & wonderful history we boast; from northern bands like Gammacide, Rigor Mortis & Rotting Corpse TO southerners like SA Slayer, Watchtower & Helstar TO coastal benders like Ankor Wat, Devastation AND Anialator to name a few! Obviously, many of these band's no longer exist due to members passing, quiet demises & personal evolutions, but SOME still do; and, in our 30-year career we've had the privilege of interviewing most of these bands (or surviving members) because its important, not only to remember, but HONOR the foundations they built during a much simpler & devoted time. SO, in the 2020's for ANY band of this era to be releasing NEW music, (much less an entire record) is a tremendous feat in & of itself. AND, last year when Corpus Christi thrashers, ANIALATOR's 7-song release, 'Death Is Calling', crossed my desk it once again reminded me that our Texas history continues to thrive. First, DIC is the proper throwback that the band has been yearning for with a production that lands on the fine line between raw & modern; add thrashy, crunching riffs backboned by outstanding solo work & a dominating lead vocal that expresses the angst & futility of time long gone,...& DIC is the perfect throwback. Listen to some of my faves like, 'Terror Tactics', 'Iron Grinder' OR 'Battlefield Messiah' & you'll get the jist. I quickly knew I wanted to OFFICIALLY support this record & was humbled when founding member (& bassist) Alex Dominquez & vocalist, Tony Gomez, accepted my invitation to visit the RMW Studio on March 21st, 2026. In the interview below you will see us discuss the following: the band's formation (& early recordings), early shows (& networking with other TX bands), the rebirth in the internet age (& the reverence of TX metal), the Anialator mascot, their strategy for playing shows & SO many COOL stories. To the RMW Familia (esp outside of Texas) - be SURE to look for Anialator (& the DIC release) & partake in 80's Texas metal in the modern era. To Alex & Tony - THANK YOU for your WONDERFUL vibes & connecting with the Crew in a SPECIAL way. We undoubtedly had a GREAT time (maybe too much fun, LOL!) I look forward to seeing a show this year.
