Aneurisma de Aorta: Causas, Riesgos. Como evitar los Aneurismas
Aneurysms are dilations of the arteries. Aneurysms can be dangerous because as the arteries dilate, they generate increasing tension on the vessel walls, eventually leading to rupture of the artery, resulting in death or serious long-term consequences. The aorta can develop aneurysms along its entire length, but the most common are abdominal aortic aneurysms in the lower abdomen (infrarenal region). However, thoracic aortic aneurysms also occur, such as those in the ascending aorta, aortic arch, and descending aorta. There are multiple causes of aneurysms. The most significant are smoking and high blood pressure. Other causes include dyslipidemia, genetic factors such as Marfan syndrome, and trauma, among others. Aneurysms are often discovered incidentally because they are usually asymptomatic. That's why it's essential to prevent them by avoiding (or controlling) cardiovascular risk factors and having regular checkups with your doctor or cardiologist. In some cases, aneurysms can cause nonspecific symptoms in the chest or abdomen. Aortic dissection or aortic syndrome is a different matter. Aortic dissection occurs when the aorta ruptures, creating a dissection, which constitutes a medical emergency. In these cases, the main symptom is usually sudden and intense pain. It is often accompanied by other symptoms, but pain is the most common. Aneurysms require monitoring or surgical intervention, depending on their size and therefore the risk of rupture due to their natural progression versus the risks inherent in surgery. Surgery can be conventional, where part of the aorta is removed and a replacement prosthesis is placed, or endovascular. All of this will depend on the location of the aneurysm, the anatomical characteristics of the artery and the patient, among other variables. Furthermore, medical treatment of cardiovascular risk factors is essential, as is decisively eliminating smoking and very effectively controlling blood pressure and heart rate. #health #aorta #aneurysm Content: 00:00 What are Aneurysms? 00:40 Definition of an Aneurysm 01:00 The Dangers of Aneurysms 01:40 Cardiovascular System and Portions of the Aorta 02:17 How to Know if I Have an Aneurysm 03:04 Cardiovascular Risk Factors and Aneurysms 03:46 Other Causes of Aneurysms 05:00 Importance of Annual Medical Checkups Diagnosis of Aneurysm 05:32 Treatment of Aneurysm 06:20 Aortic Syndrome 07:38 Prognosis of Thoracic Aortic Dissection 07:50 Conclusion
