At 36 Quai des Orfèvres, Martine Monteil is known and recognized as "the first woman." The first woman to head the Narcotics, Mondaine, Crime, and PJ departments. In the late 1970s, in a heavily male-dominated field, she opened doors, one after the other. The dismantling of Madame Claude's network, the arrest of Guy Georges, the killer in eastern Paris, the drug raid at Françoise Sagan's home, a friend of Mitterrand, the flawed investigation into the death of Princess Diana... that's her. Her worst memory, she confides, is the attack on the Port-Royal metro station and the train strewn with human remains. In 2008, she was appointed Prefect and Secretary General of the Paris Defense Zone. In January 2019, Martine Monteil became an advisor to Fabrice Paire, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Partouche Group.
