Today, we remember the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, and the month dedicated to it begins. From a historical perspective, the ancient feast of the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ was instituted in 1849 by Pope Pius IX, although it was Pope Pius X who, later, on the occasion of the nineteenth centenary of Christ's death, established its celebration on July 1st. Beginning in 1970, however, in reforming the liturgical calendar, the Church unified the feast of the Most Precious Blood of Christ with that of Corpus Christi.
