A Trip on the Mersey Ferry - Royal Iris (Of The Mersey)
A trip cross the Mersey on Royal Iris (Of The Mersey) recorded on the last days of her cruising the Mersey before she is retired from service. Launched in 1959 under the name of Mountwood and entered service on the river Mersey in 1960 she crossed the river many times carrying around 17 Million passengers. In 2002 she was renamed Royal Iris with (Of The Mersey) added due to there being another Royal Iris. The Iris was seen in the Gerry and the pacemakers film "Ferry cross the Mersey" she is being de-commissioned and replaced by a new Mersey ferry Royal Daffodil due to go in to service summer 26, Built at cammel laird. in this video you see footage from the quayside, drone footage and onboard footage.
