Mating is the endgame of cephalopod existence, and male kisslip cuttlefish gear up for a dazzling finale. Hulking out in iridescent greens and snappy purples, male kisslips throw down a gauntlet of fancy moves to shield their mates from challengers, balancing might and mind to ensure that theirs is the next generation of kisslip protagonists in this marvelous sea-nematic universe. Kisslip cuttlefish (Sepia lycidas) are on display right now in our "Tentacles" special exhibition. They're laying eggs at the moment, and we hope to raise the generation of cuttlefish behind the scenes.
