Episode Eight: Logan Martin

Not every professional baseball journey starts under the bright lights of a Power Four program. Logan Martin began his collegiate career at Division III Sewanee, where he quickly established himself as one of the nation's top pitchers. After earning conference Pitcher of the Year honors in 2022 with a 3.89 ERA and 98 strikeouts in 69.1 innings, he proved he was ready for a bigger challenge, transferring to Kentucky to compete in the SEC. The transition to college baseball's toughest conference came with its share of adversity. Martin showed flashes of his potential early in the 2023 season before battling command issues during SEC play, and injuries ultimately limited him to just eight starts. Despite the setbacks, he finished with a 4.44 ERA and continued to showcase the talent that made him a standout at Sewanee. After getting drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 12th round in 2023, he's continued to develop into a legitimate pitching prospect, featuring a fastball that sits 93-95 mph and reaches 98, a sharp breaking ball, and an improving changeup. By 2025, he put together an impressive season in High-A, posting a 3.45 ERA over 22 starts. In this episode, Logan shares his journey from Division III baseball to the SEC, overcoming injuries and setbacks, and the relentless work that helped him earn his place in professional baseball.
