Róisín Murphy Special Acoustic Set of Tracks From 'Róisín Machine'
@Róisín Murphy has spent the last two decades breaking new ground. As part of Moloko, she crafted everything from stripped-back trip-hop to shuddering dance-floor bombs, and her solo albums since have explored everything from winsome electronica to thrusting techno. Her latest release, Róisín Machine, is one of the most exciting albums of 2020, a record which makes you pine for the dance-floor and the strange introspection that being surrounded by a crowd of people can bring. The album, her fifth solo record and first first full-length project since 2016's Take Her Up To Monto, is a heady mixture of disco and house fused with compelling and weighty lyrics, that combine on a record which is both uplifting and contemplative. In other words, it's the perfect album for this strange year. This content is imported from YouTube. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site. As part of this year's Esquire Townhouse @ Your House in partnership with Breitling line-up, she performs three tracks from the record in the intimate surroundings of The Court in London's Kingly Street, stripped back with nothing but an acoustic guitar and her astonishing vocals. In discussion with BBC 6 Music DJ and broadcaster Georgie Rogers, Murphy speaks about the creative burst she's been on this year while in lockdown, which includes songwriting, home recording, podcasts and even the occasional living room performance. She also looks back on her formative years in Sheffield with DJ Parrott, aka Crooked Man, who collaborated with her on Róisín Machine, as well as revealing an upcoming project with DJ Koze.
