Day 47: O Amenal to Santiago de Compostela – The Final 17.3 Kilometers!

Today, we walked from O Amenal to Santiago de Compostela, covering 17.3 kilometers (10.7 miles). The excitement of nearing the end of our Camino filled us with energy as we walked through some beautiful towns on the final stretch. We passed through San Paio, Lavacolla, and Vilamaior, with each village offering its own unique charm. As we neared Santiago, we walked through San Marcos and then up to Monte do Gozo, where we had our first distant view of the magnificent Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. After walking 17.3 kilometers (10.7 miles), we finally arrived in Santiago de Compostela, where we stayed at PR Paz de Agra for the night. It was a moment of triumph and reflection—after walking for so many days, we had finally reached our destination, the iconic Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, with 0 kilometers left to go. A very dear friend came from the UK to surprise me, experience a bit of the Camino and Santiago, and welcome us into Santiago.
