Driving the Dempster Highway to the Arctic Circle (RV Life)

We drove our RV on the Dempster Highway to the Arctic Circle — and it didn’t go as planned. After an incredible 10 weeks in Alaska, we knew we couldn’t head south without attempting one last bucket-list adventure: driving the legendary Dempster Highway in our RV. Originally, our plan was to continue all the way to the Arctic Ocean in Tuktoyaktuk like most travelers do. But once we got onto the road, reality set in… this highway is seriously rough. Between the unpaved surface, constant vibrations, and how loud our RV gets on washboard roads, we realized pushing farther north just didn’t feel right for us (or our rig). So instead, we made the call to slow down, stay within our comfort zone, and celebrate a huge milestone… reaching the Arctic Circle by RV. The Dempster Highway stretches 460 miles through remote Yukon and Northwest Territories wilderness, cutting through mountain ranges, tundra, rivers, and endless open landscapes. Even though we didn’t make it to the Arctic Ocean, this drive was still one of the most stunning and memorable experiences of our travels.
