Jeffreys Bay March Raises Concerns Over Drugs and Undocumented Foreign Nationals July 2026
March and March Movement volunteer Siyabonga Qonono, from Ocean View in Ward 14, outlined the concerns behind the latest march through Jeffreys Bay on Friday, 10 July 2026. Qonono said the movement wanted undocumented foreign nationals to leave Kouga peacefully, while also calling for action against people involved in selling drugs in local communities. He emphasised that participants had not gathered to fight but wanted to address problems they believed were affecting residents across the area. Qonono said marchers were concerned about foreign nationals whose identities could not be confirmed, as well as claims that some individuals were involved in crime, theft and other unlawful activities. He called for the documents of foreign nationals living in the area to be checked by the Department of Home Affairs to determine whether they were valid. Qonono said those without valid documentation should leave, while those with documents should undergo the necessary verification process. He placed particular emphasis on the movement’s demand for drug dealers to leave Jeffreys Bay and the wider Kouga area. Siyabonga Qonono, a March and March Movement volunteer from Ocean View, said: We are not here to fight. We are here on behalf of the community. Those who do not have papers must go peacefully, while those who have papers must have them checked by Home Affairs. Most importantly, we want drug dealers to leave Jeffreys Bay and Kouga. Qonono also stressed that the movement was not politically motivated, saying its activities were being carried out on behalf of the community. The interview followed the March and March Movement’s procession through Madiba Bay, Ocean View and Pellsrus, where participants raised concerns about undocumented foreign nationals, drugs, crime and unemployment. #KougaNews #JeffreysBay #OceanView #MarchAndMarchMovement #Kouga #MarchAndMarch
