PhD week in my life: paddling, panic, and productivity

A PhD day in my life that started with a paddling storm and ended with committee meeting prep — this is what grad school actually looks like when real life doesn't pause for your deadlines. Yesterday was one of the wildest days I've had in a while — we went paddling in 47°C heat with zero clouds, four hours in, completely exhausted and dehydrated, and then out of nowhere a storm rolled in and we were spinning in our boat trying to stay in control. Absolutely unreal experience. Then today it was straight back to grad school reality: laundry, groceries, and prepping for a committee meeting — going through my data, cleaning up my slides, and trying to feel ready to present my progress. This is the honest split-screen of PhD life nobody shows you: adrenaline one day, spreadsheets and slide decks the next. If you're a grad student who feels like you're constantly switching between "main character energy" and "please let this committee meeting go okay," you'll feel this one. 0:00 The paddling storm 2:10 Coming home and crashing 3:00 Committee meeting prep begins 5:15 Grocery run + wrap up ✦ THINGS I MENTIONED Committee meeting slides / data analysis workflow Paddling gear (kayak/canoe trip) ✦ Music: ⁨@shushubobo⁩ - (coffee time) [no copyright music] ( • [no copyright music] " coffee time " cute ... ) ‪@shushubobo‬ (bubble tea) [no copyright music] ( • [no copyright music] " bubble tea " lofi v... ) ✦ ABOUT ME I'm Roya — a PhD student in Toronto documenting the real, unfiltered side of grad school life.
