Hello! I'm Toko, and I love traveling with just a backpack. I love nature, hot springs, and having no plans! This is my first trip to the Yaeyama Islands this year, a 6-night, 7-day trip (May 19-25, 2026). This video covers the second day, when I traveled from Ishigaki Island, where I stayed the night before, to Iriomote Island. I stayed in the eastern part of Iriomote Island two years ago, but this time I'm staying in the western part. Specifically, I'm staying in Hoshitate, one of the oldest settlements on Iriomote Island. Surrounded by the atmosphere of this historic settlement, it was a day of complete healing for both mind and body from the very first day. The popular diner Shikoya has a shy owner, making it difficult to enter, but the food is fantastic! However, the reviews said that the owner is very nice once you talk to him, so I cautiously went in, and he was just as the reviews described! Perhaps he knew it too, as he said, "I'm surprised you came in alone!"
