How Are Mormons Saved? (Part 4): “Elder Nuance,” Mormon Rebooting, and Inherited Testimonies Bill Young concludes his series critiquing LDS apologist Chandler Hendry’s use of Ephesians 2:8–10, arguing Hendry avoids works-heavy LDS texts, redefines grace as enabling power for works, and reframes faith as covenant loyalty. Young highlights a comments exchange where a Christian asks what facts led Hendry to believe Mormonism is true. Young portrays Hendry as evasive. Young then plays clips from an interview in which Hendry says he served a mission to “discover truth,” did not know the church, Joseph Smith, or the Book of Mormon were true, rarely studied the Bible, and testifies mainly to perceived benefits. Hendry dismisses translation concerns from a rock and contrasts a “tyrant” Christian God with an LDS view.
