Salon de Provence Walking Tour | Discovering Nostradamus
Discovering Nostradamus in Provence. I enjoy a walking tour around Salon de Provence, a delightful town which for me ticked all the boxes. Upon arrival in Salon de Provence, I walked through some of the back streets towards the Statue to Michel de Nostradame, or Nostradamus as he is usually know as. Then it was a short walk up to the Church of Saint Laurent, or Collegiale Saint Laurent in Salon de Provence to visit the grave of Michel de Nostradame, Nostradamus. A short walk back into town, through more picturesque back streets to a popular café for coffee and cake. The Café was situated near the Porte l’Horloge, one of the old entrance gates in Salon de Provence. Just along from the café was another statue, this one was of Adam de Craponne, an engineer, who built the Canal de Craponne. Across from the stature of Adam de Crapone is the Porte Bourg Neuf, another fine entrance gate, which I went through on my way to the Nostradamus Museum, one of the main attractions in Salon de Provence. One the way up to the castle, I found some superb wall murals depicting famous French people before stopping for a pasta lunch at a cafe. The cafe was located in a delightful square under the castle and one of the best locations I’ve enjoyed a lunch at. A walk up a flight of steps and at another building with wall murals on the front. Then to the castle or the Chateau de l’Emperi, in Salon de Provence. The castle was free to enter and walk around the grounds and the remains of the tower offered fine views over the town of Salon de Provence. I had such an enjoyable day on my walking tour around Salon de Provence. There was so much history to see and it’s the history of Salon de Provence which I came to see in this south of France travel series. ▬ Contents of this video ▬ 0:00 – Intro 0:08 – Departing Avignon 1:12 - Arrival in Salon de Provence 2:38 - Statue to Michel de Nostradame, Nostradamus 5:04 - Church of Saint Laurent, Collegiale Saint Laurent 9:06 - Café and Porte l’Horloge 11:48 - Statue of Adam de Craponne, Porte Bourg Neuf 13:52 - Nostradamus Museum, Wall murals Salon de Provence 17:40 - Café for lunch 22:34 – Wall murals, Suzanne de Vacquerolles 24:00 - Chateau de l’Emperi, Salon de Provence, castle 30:48 – Views over Salon de Provence, End credits If you enjoyed this video, then please consider subscribing to my channel, as there are plenty of travel and history-based videos to watch and many more on the way. ►Have you thought about sponsoring my channel by joining me as a member?
