Lectura y Análisis del Discurso en el Politeama de Manuel Gonzáles Prada | Para Pensar

On July 29, 1888, the famous and scathing "Speech at the Politeama" by the "Apostle of Death," Manuel González Prada, was delivered. In front of President Andrés Avelino Cáceres, he proclaimed the famous phrase: "The old to the grave, the young to work!" The fervor and fighting spirit of the speech still motivate profound reflections on our national reality, prey to corruption and backwardness. Although this speech was not delivered by González Prada, who possessed a less powerful voice, but by a student, the critical power and his ideas of "refounding" the nation remain relevant today. That is why today I share this reading and analysis of the "Speech at the Politeama."
