Bannmühle is a unique organic farm located in a historic mill on the Glan River in Rhineland-Palatinate. Owner Hans Pfeffer has been a pioneer here for decades, establishing his orchards using the Key Line design over 30 years ago, making him one of the first German farmers to do so. Today, these orchards are his most consistently productive. We accompany Hans on a tour of his land and discuss the key topics in agroforestry and traditional orchards: location, climate, variety selection, maintenance, and water management. Since Hans allows his cattle to graze almost all of his orchards, proper tree protection is also of paramount importance.
