Ramgarh remains a center of research due to its association with Lord Rama and the great poet Kalidasa. According to ancient belief, Lord Rama spent some time in the Ramgarh hills during his exile with his wife Sita and brother Lakshman. Here, Jogimara, named after Rama's ascetic guise, Sita Bengara, named after Sita, and Lakshman Gufa, named after Lakshman, are located. Located about 20 kilometers from Ramgarh, Maheshpur is believed to be the forest site of Maharishi Jamdagni's penance. During his exile, Lord Rama visited the ashram of Maharishi Jamadagni. Similarly, it is believed that the great poet Kalidasa composed Meghdootam on the Ramgarh hill. Ramgarh is the oldest historical site in Surguja. Located on the Ambikapur-Bilaspur road, it is also known as Ramgiri, and the Ramgarh mountain is the peak of the hat (cap). Ramgarh has become a center of research due to its association with Lord Rama and the great poet Kalidasa. According to an ancient belief, Lord Rama lived with his brother Lakshman and wife Sita during their exile. It is here that Jogi Mara, named after Rama's ascetic nature, Sita Bengarga, and Lakshman Cave, named after Lakshman, are located. Ramgarh bears traces of Lord Rama's forest journey.
