To describe the seriousness of the situation in Corinth, Paul uses harsh terms such as schisma, which denotes divisions due to differences of opinion, and eris, which means strife. These spiritual sins are so destructive that they rank among the most reprehensible behaviors that Christians must avoid. The lack of unity in Corinth was so alarming that it led to lawsuits among members and divisions even during the Lord's Supper. Therefore, Paul prioritizes this crucial issue. Application: Forming cliques or closed groups within the church is a sin that offends God and weakens the mission.
