Los Sacerdotes Egipcios

The Egyptian Priests Broadcast Date: 12-03-2005 TV Program - They were essentially employed in the temple to officiate and take care of the daily needs of the cult of the official representation of the god (usually a gold or silver statue in the case of some lunar gods). Priests were not necessarily ex officio religious; some inherited the position from their parents; in certain circumstances, priestly titles could even be purchased. There were groups of priests who specialized in a certain type of knowledge, others who taught writing and copied texts, and others who attended to the economic organization of the temple. Temples were the residences of the gods, but Templar precincts could include workshops, libraries, and estates. Proposed by: María Teresa Román. Speakers: Federico Lara Peinado, Professor of Ancient History, Complutense University (Madrid); María Teresa Román López, Professor of Philosophy (UNED).
