Broadcast Date: 15-11-1998 TV Program - After gaining independence from British rule in 1947, India began its independent journey. Currently, the secular state does not specifically support any of the religious expressions within its territory. This is stipulated in its Constitution, which guarantees complete religious freedom. The UNED (National University of Education) is launching a series of four programs on Indian religions, an essential aspect of understanding their culture. This first part addresses the Sacred Literature of India: the Vedas, or sacred books of India, the religion that the Aryans brought to India.
