Traditional Decision-Making in Evaluation: Focus Group Discussion with OPDP

In this video on engagement with the Ogiek People’s Development Program (OPDP) representatives. According to OPDP, the Ogiek people employ various strategies to measure project success and community progress. These include community-led initiatives, participatory approaches, and culturally sensitive methodologies. The organisation emphasises the importance of engaging elders, youth, and women in decision-making processes and project implementation. Success indicators often involve increased community participation, improved livelihoods, and enhanced cultural preservation. The OPDP believe that the Ogiek people use strategies such as community engagement, capacity building, and cultural events to track project outcomes. They also rely on traditional knowledge transfer methods, like storytelling and intergenerational learning, to ensure project relevance and effectiveness. However, challenges such as lack of political representation, land tenure issues, and climate change impacts complicate evaluation efforts and project implementation.
