They Told Us the WRONG Weight…

This Forklift Weighed WAY More Than Expected… Luckily we like to overig, but this unit was deceptively heavy. We do lots of airport jobs with pushback tugs, and some electric units can weigh 80,000lbs. But those have electric heavy motors and are all solid. This forklift didn't seem solid, but in hindsight the heavy mast plus counterweights definitely got it to almost 80,000lbs. While not a true scale, our load cells and boom sensor can get a pretty good reading on what it weighs. My original guess was closer to 60,000lbs, and I was off by around 15k. Between Hulk and Flipper, we can handle it no problem. But it just goes to show the importance of proper rigging and always rig for more than what you expect. Our platinum slings, web shackle links and foundry hooks were all well within the working load limits of this lift. Plus we met a cool guy who will be my next guest on the podcast!
