3 Days of Shore Fishing for Coho Salmon | San Juan River, Port Renfrew, BC

We’re back at Port Renfrew, camping for two nights at the mouth of the San Juan River on Vancouver Island! This spot in mid-September is legendary for Coho (silver) salmon — and one of the few places where anglers can keep wild Coho along with hatchery fish. Armed with buzz bombs, spinners, and even my fly rod, we put in 1000+ casts chasing Coho on the tidal side of the river mouth. I have a rough start, losing three fish in a row, while Jay manages to hook into two keepers. After a grind, I finally land a solid Coho of my own. Between casting sessions, we drop crab traps from the tinny, enjoy the campsite, and once again, our trip lined up with the Filipino Fishing Derby (shoutout to those guys — always super friendly and respectful!). If you love fishing, camping, and outdoor adventures on Vancouver Island, this trip has it all: salmon, crabbing, fly fishing, and the ups and downs of the chase. 👉 Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more adventures as I keep chasing fish and wild places around Vancouver Island. #salmon #fishing #fishingvlogs #salmonfishing #vancouverisland
