Stopped by the Coast Guard while Bottom Fishing for Halibut | Canada

In this fishing adventure, we head out from Sooke, BC in late September for some bottom fishing, anchoring up in hopes of finding a few halibut. Joining me on the boat are Joe and Jay, and while the halibut didn’t cooperate this trip, we end up catching a variety of bottom fish — flounder, spiny dogfish, Pacific cod (grey cod), Cabezon (actually Red Irish Lord, I think), Rockfish, and Lingcod. After trying two anchor spots, we decide to head further west, hoping to jig up a decent lingcod. But on the way, we’re stopped by the Canadian Coast Guard, and boarded by Fisheries officers for a quick inspection. Once cleared, we get back to fishing and manage to jig up a few cabezon, a rockfish, and a single undersized lingcod 🥲. After about an hour of jigging, we wrap up the day and head home with a couple of cod for dinner. 📍 Location: Sooke, British Columbia 🎣 Target species: Halibut, lingcod, cod, flounder 🚤 Style: Anchoring & jigging 📅 Time of year: Late September More Halibut Fishing Adventures:    • Bottom Fishing for Halibut | British Colum...      • Bottom Fishing for Halibut + Salmon Trolli...   Thanks for watching! #vlog #fishing #halibut
