I left Isla de Las Flores, Guatemala, heading towards the Mexican border… but I started the day on the edge. Having failed to sleep all night, I had to face yet another customs checkpoint, completely exhausted physically and mentally. The driving started to become dangerous. Any new bureaucracy began to cause me a fear and anxiety that are difficult to explain; it's not fussiness, it's not complaining, it's reporting the facts. In this bitter experience, I discovered the limit of my own resilience. And perhaps some people will never understand this… Because unfortunately, there's a part of the internet that transforms suffering into competition. As if traveling in a BMW would eliminate pain. As if a hotel would eliminate trauma. As if a large motorcycle would prevent someone from breaking down inside. Anxiety and physical exhaustion don't ask what kind of motorcycle you have, how much money you have, or where you sleep. When the body and mind begin to collapse… it's over. Even so, I continued slowly, carefully, trying to keep my head in the right place until I reached the Mexican border. And thank God… everything turned out alright. All that absurd tension that was destroying me inside simply didn't happen this time. I managed to get through customs without any problems, and the relief I felt upon entering Mexico was indescribable. For the first time in a long time, I felt like I was leaving the weight of Central America behind. Now, closer to the United States, everything seemed to be starting to improve.
