Why I Loved a Ride That Didn't Go to Plan

Bend, Oregon to Moab, Utah on a 2025 Yamaha Ténéré 700 — two days, one bike, and a plan that didn't survive the first morning. Day one was all wind. Two hours in I quit fighting it, changed my route, and put it at my back. It wasn't the way I'd planned to ride — but out across the high desert and down into the red rock, I started learning this was destined to be. The plan changed and I loved the ride. I entered Utah from the north, passed the Great Salt Lake, Helper Canyon, and into the desert of Utah. I had the time of my life.
